Lets celebrate Samba De Amigo some more!

Here's a great video review of Samba De Amigo I found on Youtube just recently by PNTgame. What with the Wii version on it's way this Spring, it's probably wise I get back into this to get the feel for it again. It just won't be the same without the rattling red lumps of plastic though! Hopefully someone will put out an attachment for the Wii remotes that transforms them into maracas, and why not? They make plastic swords, golf clubs and just recently even table tennis paddles. The one time we actually WANT a daft plastic attachment and Sega won't give us it? Anyway, enjoy this brilliant review that not only gives you a darn good analysis of how the game plays, but is also bloody funny.

And while we're at it, here's some more Samba De Amigo videos! For anyone with a Wii: Buy this when it comes out. If you don't own a Wii but can't afford the Dreamcast version: Buy a Wii. If you can't wait: throw the £70-odd at it anyway! Unlike most games that sell for crazy money, it's worth it. I mean, just look at how much fun this guy is having!

If your a real cheap sod though, you could also go with the version found in Sega Superstars on the Playstation 2 using the EyeToy. But...it's just not the same, although maybe it's because I'm not as good at it as this guy..

If you want the best possible experience right now though, you need to get the Japanese expansion release Version 2000, as it added a bunch of new stuff to the game play, like shaking both maracas back and forth in different directions and rotating them in a circle. It also has a rather amusing volleyball mini which is best in 2 player, although you'll want to own the first edition of Samba as well for that one has a bunch of mini games of it's own too, the best of which is WHACK A MOLE. What's not to like?

Oh and the maracas? Instead of buying two of the official sets, you could save money by buying the Cha Cha Amigo third-party maracas as your second pair, which you can buy on Play-Asia cheap! Also: They have lights in them that flash when you shake 'em! How cool is that? I still need to get me a pair of those.

Greatest rhythm game I have ever played. Guitar Hero can kiss my arse.

I really want Samba de Amigo now, but I've bought so many games recently (and a Treamcast) that I need to play all the games (and I have no money).

where exactly can you find Treamcasts these days?

three websites:
divineo.cn
gamersection.ca
superufo.com
I ordered mine from divineo.cn, right now it's going through customs :P

Does the play Asia third party maracas come with a sensor bar and everything you need to use them?

Or do they just come with the maracas?

It comes with a sensor bar, yes (they wouldn't even work otherwise!). The only thing it doesn't have that the official ones do is the feet mat, which isn't needed anyway.

yes I have Samba De Amigo and two (count 'em) sets of third party maracas... Its a fab party game and one of the reasons that if you don't already own one to pick up a Dreamcast...

Actually I also own the PS2 version and despite using your hands in front of the Eye Toy, this is a great way to play the game...

"If your a real cheap sod though, you could also go with the version found in Sega Superstars on the Playstation 2 using the EyeToy."

I guess I must tick both boxes as a DC obsessive and new fan of the PS2...

Any way this game is a must... I'll probably pick it up on the Wii as well...

What about a DS version? Elite Beat Agents/Samba De Amigo cross over anyone?

nah, you need to be swinging your arms about in some way or another for it to be Samba De Amigo.

I do think a Space Channel 5 DS game of that description would work well, though.

Unlike most Dreamcast remakes on the PS2 Sega Superstars is actually Affordable.

I think the only other one that is cheaper might be Headhunter for PS2 (which I got for $3.30).

In most other cases PS2 remakes of Dreamcast games are getting more expensive.

Rez is going for like $40.00+.

Other games like Marvel VS capcom 2 are going for like $85.00 in the shops.

In most cases it would be simplier to get the Dreamcast version and live the glory as it was intended!

...Though if I ever get a Wii I WILL buy this.

I recently saw the PS2 version of Space Channel Part 2 (the only English release of the game) with a Buy it Now on Ebay of...wait for it, £100! I'm sure that's more than the Japanese DC version goes for.

Holy CrappA!

I gonna pick that up.

I know this is way off topic, but how do I use the Saturn Gameshark to play Japanese Saturn games on my US system?

I've got it for the Dreamcast, but I also picked it up for £2 for the PS2... GO ME!

Holy crap!

Really???

Dammit.

US prices on some games suck.

So you got it for like $5.00 American then???

Damn.

I only know how do that on the Dreamcast. I know you can use a cart to play any game on a US saturn but I have never heard of using a Gameshark disk.

Go to Racket-boys forums. Or ask in the comments in the Saturn Junkyard and someone might be able to answer you.
