10th Anniversary Competition: Part Three

Parts One and Two of our Sega Europe-supported 10th Anniversary Competition have been overwhelmingly successful and have seen two lucky winners each walk away with a highly prized Dreamcast Collection vinyl record. As previously stated, these limited edition LPs were given away in Australia only as part of the promotional activity surrounding the launch of the Dreamcast Collection for the Xbox 360, and only 2000 were ever produced. Due to this, they are pretty damn rare...and we have one left to give away.

In part one of our competition we asked you to explain what the Dreamcast meant to you on a personal level, and while we had lots of brilliant and varied entries, James Steel won with his fantastic (and rather clever) pastiche of game titles woven into a brief description of his love for the system (click for a bigger version, or just download it):

In part two we wanted to move away from matters of the heart and get more empirical, so we tested your cerebral abilities by asking you to identify 25 games via heavily cropped screens. There were plenty of good attempts, but only five entrants got all of the games correct and eventually Ricardo Almeida of Portugal was drawn from the hat. Not Ricardo himself - that would have been impractical and I don't have a hat big enough for five human beings to comfortably sit inside...but you get the idea.

Now though, the time has come for us to announce the third and final part of our giveaway. Part Three is here, and it's going to be a test of skill rather than a cerebral or emotional examination. For this competition, you will need to own a copy of Sega Rally 2 for your Dreamcast and what you will need to do with this copy of Sega Rally 2 is set a lap time on Desert SS1 with the Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205, and then send us a photo of the final time screen. You may choose any gearing set-up (either manual or automatic, 4 or 6 speed) but the car must be the Celica GT-Four and the track must be Desert SS1. Please also note that we will accept entries from any version of the game, either PAL, NTSC-U or NTSC-J. This is because I am reliably informed that this title is PAL optimised and so it really won't make that much of a difference to your time if you're playing the PAL game, the US version or the Japanese one.

So there you go - get practising and once you have a decent time set, take a picture of your time and send it to admin@thedreamcastjunkyard.co.uk. As ever, we will run this for a month so you have until the 7th September to submit your entry. In the unlikely event that two or more people set exactly the same fastest time, the winner will be drawn out of a hat. Or a wellington boot. Whichever I can find quickest.
