This project has finally reached its final v.1.0 release.
You will find hours of Counter-Strike gameplay, now on Sega Dreamast.
This final release is now very stable, and is fully playable with a standard controller.
And for the record, this project was intended from the begining to be
a great single-player experience. So to answer with certainty,
online/multiplayer will never be possible on Dreamcast.
Standard half-life dc codes work from the menu, for example:
"Otis Loves Dreamcast" --> God mode
"Dreamcast Gives Firepower" --> Infinate ammo
Also, huge credit goes to original authors of the content that has
been borrowed with or without permission for this release.

I made that cover for my copy that I recently burned. It's an amazingly slick port that almost feels like it could be a retail release (with the obvious exception of no multiplayer)and loads rather fast too.

I have a noob question:
ReplyDeleteWhy is there .r00, .r01, etc all containing seemingly the same file?
It's one file split up into a bunch of rars. You need them all to extract the full file.

Erm, I downloaded it but I'm not sure what to do next. What is the process for putting it only a disk that my DC will read? Do you just dump it onlt a cd and burn? or do you have to use a certain program? Yep, I'm a noob too...!
ReplyDeleteI tried pasting the files onto a CD-R in windows and then burning but my DC won't read it - just goes to the music screen. Fuck knows why there are so many random spelling mistakes in my last comment, btw!
ReplyDeleteGrab a program called Bootdreams, which is made specially for burning Dreamcast games and does all the work for you. Slap a CD in your drive, select the cdi, hit record and done!

ReplyDeleteWell, moomintroll, I bow to your superior knowledge. All I get, no matter which icon I try to burn with (discjuggler, nero, alcohol etc) is a message saying that it 'cannot find the main binary' and then displays a list of the contents of the Counterstrike folder. No matter which one I select, it just says 'filename is 4 characters too long.' Ah well, at least I got Neverball to work.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the counterstrike file you got like? You did extract the cdi from the first of all of those rar files right? If you e-mail I could help you out with it if you like.
ReplyDeleteCheers GM - The thing I downloaded is the one with the covers in one file and then a list of files ending in .r00 etc. There didn't appear to be a .cdi file in there. No worries, I'll have another look and see if I can sort it out. These comments make me look like an incompetent imbecile, I'm sure!

I got the DC to work with it, but at the starter console menu, it says to insert a controller when one already is in. Anyone know what's up with it?
