Classic Game Room HD - Crazy Taxi 2

The Dreamcast Junkyard always likes to see a Dreamcast game featured on Classic Game Room HD. This time, Mark plays Crazy Taxi 2 and reminds us of how awesome a game it is. Mark makes a good point too, stating that despite the many ports of the original Crazy Taxi, there has yet to be another home console port of Crazy Taxi 2. This one is still a Dreamcast exclusive!

Speaking of Classic Game Room, I wanted to give a shout out to a DVD documentary which follows the early years of the internet gaming show. Titled "Classic Game Room: The Rise And Fall Of The Internet's Greatest Video Game Review Show" and released in 2007, the 100 minute documentary is narrated by Mark and features a number of early episodes intercut with new footage. Dreamcast fans should take note that the series began just two months after the American launch of the Dreamcast, so some of the included video reviews cover Dreamcast games. It's a fun documentary, with Mark never taking the subject matter too seriously, and it's a nice time capsule for Dreamcast fans who recall the early days of the console. Yes there are cheesy jokes, and the guys behind the original shows aren't seasoned professionals, but the early episodes have a public access charm and the grown up Mark is an apt filmmaker.

While the DVD shows up on most major retail sites, it isn't often in stock. The only place I've found it in stock was walmart.com and I can confirm that they do have it as I ordered it from them a few months back and received it within a few days. The DVD is also available to rent on Netflix, so add it to your queue. The Dreamcast episodes included are SEGA GT and Seaman and there is also a review of X-Men for the SEGA Genesis.

Gamespot Dreamcast Retrospective

Oh yes, another dreamcast retrospective this time from gamespot for their Video game History month. Talks to a few people responsible for the American launch as well as some random gamers. 15 minutes of telling us everything we at the Junkyard have heard dozens of times, but still worth a quick look.

Classic Game Room's Fast Striker Review!

...Part one of two! This is the kind of attention this game really deserves: the game has been selling out since it was reduced on Play-Asia temporally and in my opinion it's the best indie shooter on the Dreamcast to date. There will be a 2nd video to this review soon.

Classic Game Room Reviews DUX

Classic game Room, by far my favorite video reviewer on the web, has finally got his teeth stuck into some Dreamcast indie goodness, starting off with DUX and hopefully more will follow. He does a much better job at reviewing this than i ever could simply because I couldn't even beat the first level in it! Lord Karnage has been reviewing a lot of Dreamcast games recently that you should also check out, such as Capcom vs SNK 2, Mortal Kombat Gold, Street Fighter Alpha 3, the Rumble (or Puru Puru) pack, and the Blue VMU. oh, to do this for a living..

DCJY InsideOut - Clear White Dreamcast

Frequently seen in my collection photos, but never featured in a video, it's my clear Dreamcast!

DCJY InsideOut: Dreamcast Doujinshi + Maken X Manga Comics

Probably the weirdest thing you'll ever see me feature for DCJY InsideOut, and actually a bit NSFW although unlike most Doujinshi (fan comics) it's not a hentai porn comic, but it is in places a tad perverted with quite a few er..well you'll see but you have been warned.

The comic features short stories based on Shenmue, Space Channel 5, Code Veronica, Soul Calibur and many others, but they pretty much all resort to rubbish and just plain weird jokes. The art is mixed, sometimes pretty decent and other times wonky.

Because Maken X features in the Doujinshi I also decided to show off a Official Maken X manga I bought years ago, which is just a tad more gory than I recall the game being. So yeah, this one is defiantly not for the younger lot or easily offended this vid. :P

DCJY InsideOut: Segagaga Box Set + Perfect File Book

This is a video from sometime in 2009 I found on my hard drive that I never got around to editing and uploading for some reason. Better late than never I suppose! This is of course that rather wonderful Segagaga box set that I bought back then, with the t-shirt, pin set, organizer and game in a DVD case. I posted some photos and info about it here back when I got it, but somehow this video got put aside until I found it today.

I have another InsideOut video that I made a few months back that I've also finally sorted out that will be up (probably) tomorrow and then after that I will work on some new videos with any luck!

Talking Classics – Keith Dreams of Dreamcast

It had to happen sooner or later. Keith of Talking Classics takes a bizarre look at the Dreamcast. Enjoy!

Dreamroom 2010 Marathon Videos Hit YouTube!

Dreamroom 2010 was an eleven hour marathon that took place on September 9th, 2010 in celebration of the Dreamcast's 11th birthday. I streamed the event live from my living room, and throughout the day a number of viewers popped into the live chat to talk about Dreamcast memories. If you missed the event, you can watch the event in full (almost) thanks to YouTube's latest policy of allowing super long video uploads. The videos were originally recorded from the Justin.tv web stream that I held, so I apologize that they aren't in the HD we're so accustomed to.

The first part is above, the second and third are below. I have a good three or four more videos to share, so stay tuned to the DCJY and YouTube for more videos! For whatever reason, one video was being problematic. So I might not be able to share the final stages of Space Channel 5, Zombie Revenge, 18 Wheeler and Sonic Adventure 2. Still, there are a good 9 hours of gameplay footage to look forward to, enjoy the videos!

UPDATE: Added two more videos! Part 4 features Star Wars Demolition, part 5 features Rush Rush Rally Racing and Samba de Amigo. Again, enjoy!

SegaShiro goes Soul Calibur Fishing!

When I was a guest on the SegaShiro podcast a few weeks back (if you didn't hear it, go download it now) I recommended (or should I say demanded) that the Shiro guys should try playing Soul Calibur with the Fishing controller at least once, and sure enough DJ Fob Fresh took up to the challenge and he uploaded a 20-odd minute video of his playthrough! I can't seem to find a way to embed the video here so you'll just have to head over to their site to see it. It also sounds like DarrenIndeed will be next on the site to do the same, wahaha!

Video Game Vault Chats With Seaman

The latest episode of Screw Attack's Video Game Vault revisits an old fishy friend of the DCJY. Thankfully, the video shows off the moments that make Seaman worth playing though there is quite a bit of dickery when it comes to slapping and boiling the tank. I hope for the day to come when mankind respects the Seaman and nurtures him to full froghood.

In other news, I'd like to toot my own horn and mention that my Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Ryo video has hit 16,700 views on youtube and became a featured video on GameTrailers. Toot toot!

The Dreamcast Top 100 Videos: Part 2 and 3

Here's two more videos of the Top 100. This is as far as I've got with editing this together so far. I still need to cobble together footage of certain games before I can really release any more for now, so there's gonna be a short wait for part four onwards.

The Dreamcast Top 100 in video form! Part One

The first part of the Top 100 videos is up, and the 2nd part will be up sometime tomorrow. The rest of the videos are a work in progress, I'm releasing them as I make them so you're gonna have to be patient! This is mainly just to show off bits of the games that made it into the chart, with some facts chucked onto the screen for good measure. This first part features games 100 to 91. Enjoy!

DCJY Insideout: Last Hope Pink Bullets

The updated re-release of NG:Dev.Team's indie shooter Last Hope arrived in the mail yesterday. It comes in the brightest pink DVD case you'll ever see, and the manual is still mostly in Japanese despite not coming from there.

The game has definitely had improvements: most important of all being that it now has a lot more difficulty settings and has been re-balanced so not so expert gamers like me can actually play it through! In the original It's far more forgiving this time around, and as the title suggest the enemy bullets are now pink so they don't blend in with the explosions and your own bullets like they used to.

If they decide to do the same with a more forgiving version of Dux, can I trade my old one in? I still can't beat the first level in that! XD

Goat Store announces Irides (another indie release)!

Now how did I manage to miss this? Not only did RedSpotGames reveal the release date and pre-orders for Rush Rush Rally Racing on 9/9/09, but Goat Store has something new due for release too! Above is the trailer for the iPhone version, but pre-orders are up now for a Dreamcast release of this puzzle game for $22, and pre-orders include a poster and free download of the iPhone one. Goat Store a few years back started the indie commercial Dreamcast thread with games like Feet of Fury, Cool Herders and Inhabitants (which i have yet to catch up on, need to pick them up sometime me thinks). More info over at it's official website and you can pre-order at Goat Store.

Rush Rush Rally Racing Trailer!

You can expect a lot of interesting bits and bobs popping up today, including this brand new trailer of Rush Rush Rally Racing from Senile Team. better yet, it has been revealed that Redspotgames is due to publish it this October! :D

Happy 10th Anniversary of 9.9.99!

Yep, it's that day! The final Top 100 is almost ready and will be posted here later today. For now here's a quick video about my thoughts on the American launch, though I'm in the UK I don't have that much to say about it to be honest. Still, the games that released on day one was simply amazing: the quality and variety on offer.

DCJY InsideOut: GagaMan's Collection 2009 Update

You might remember my video from last June/July showing my Dreamcast collection. Well, it's changed quite a bit since then, so here's a new video showing what's new. I mostly ramble about unusual Japanese games I've picked up, some of which I'd like to Rummage review some time.

InsideOut Video of Dux

Dux arrived in the post last Friday, so here's a video of what you get with the regular edition and a quick spot of gameplay, which is conveniently cut to not show how many times I blew up on my first go. I also also set it to an option that turns the background off without realizing that's what it meant by 'Perfect' so er...yeah.
