D2 Video Review. Rummage! American Style!

My first attempt at a game review video and it shows.

I didn't cover everything I wanted to and the voice-over sucked. Plus the video game footage is poor quality.

Points I couldn't get in:

1. The music in this game was kick ass.

2. The ending movie in this game has a timer showing how much time has passed since 2000. Or I suppose if you played the game in 1999, how long until the new millennium.

3. This game was protested in America by feminist groups, which makes NO sense since it has a female protagonist facing down the ultimate evil all by herself. There is a cut scene where an insane dude shoots a helpless woman IN THE FACE, so it was a pretty intense game. But there really wasn't any anything blatantly misogynistic. Except for the tentacle oral rape of course. But I am sure that monster would have done that to any victim regardless of gender.

4. I wasn't clear on the whole "bootleg" version thing. Due to the insane amount of FMVs in this game copied versions are mostly scaled down graphically and don't look as good as the real thing. Hands down D2 is the most difficult Dreamcast game to copy. Which means you should be like me and get a real copy.

I hope you get the general point. I really liked the game.

Nice one! Funnily enough we never got this game in the UK, so it's interesting to see this. I've haven't given mself the time to make any more of these Rummage videos recently, but I'd definaly like to do some more! (Oh btw, if you want log in details for the DCJY youtuve account just give us a shout)

Caleb! You are too harsh on yourself as a critic! That was awesome! Amazing looking game, and your description makes it look all the more appealing... I've decided that horror survival is my favourite gaming genre... After RE2 and RE3 (and maybe RE:CV again...) I'm going to play Blue Stinger... That should keep me happy until 2008, and the release of Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii!

That was definitely a good review, It shows you the game in a not to exposing way, just enough to leave you wanting for more. I hope to see some more coming, im sure it will get a lot of hits on Youtube.

LMAO!

The review was so effective that I now have a copy of D2 winging it's way from Toronto! Happy days!

According to Caleb it was censored, so you wont get to see the graphic scene, I think? But Im gonna try to find it on the net.

Great review! I just wish the game wans't so hard to find, at least in this little corner of Europe.

Nice review I bought the Japanese version from Ling-sang few years back just because it was really cheap... Unfortunately the audio was entirely in Japanese so I lost interest very quickly. Wish the enemies were more frightening.

You can see it uncensored on Youtube but to be honest the "edited" North American version was more disturbing.

After all when it cuts away after you know what is going to happen with the tentacle and the mouth and you imagine what is happening rather than seeing it.

It's the whole "razor blade ear" scene in Res. Dogs.

Plus I think they may have edited the naked parts in the game which makes it even more creepier.
