OutbreakX - Another New Dreamcast Game?

News has reached us via Dreamcast News and the Dreamcast-Talk forums that there might - might - be another new game coming for the Dreamcast. Early shots hint at a 3D platformer with shooter aspects, and looks (to me at least) like the bastard lovechild of Blinx: The Time Sweeper and Gears of War. This is no bad thing, obviously. The game, titled OutbreakX is the work of a solitary programmer who goes by the forum name '111' and as stressed multiple times in the reveal post, is only around 10% complete.
That said, 111 confirms that the current build is running on Dreamcast hardware and is likely to be entered in the recently reported DCJAM 2016 homebrew competition. Also, emo cats are criminally underrepresented on the Dreamcast.

"The game is about 10% completed right now. There is still a LOT of work ahead and there are no guarantees that it will be finished. In the worst case, I'll just release whatever I have at the time in an 'as is' state. Also, there might be a playable demo for DCJAM 2016. I think it's a bit too early to build hype now. I usually don't reveal projects unless they are mostly done, but this time I made an exception because either way, you will get something playable eventually - be it a finished game or just some tech demo.

Also, there are various problems and limits with KGL (an OpenGL implementation for KallisiOS). So far, I managed to find workarounds for most cases, but there is still a lot to test before I can safely say that everything is stable and ready for production."
- OutbreakX creator '111'

The screens do look impressive and any new game is welcomed by us here at the Junkyard. However, before you get too excited it's worth remembering that there have been multiple projects started and then abandoned over the years with no final product ever seeing the light of day; who can forget Tahi: The Arocean War, for example?
This aside, OutbreakX looks promising and if anything comes of it then the Dreamcast indie and homebrew scenes will be all the better for it, if only for the engine alone.

It might just be me thinking they look similar, but is OutbreakX using assets from or based on Sonic Adventure 1?
