Guess Who Won A Limited Edition Ryo Figure?

I did!

For those not in the know, the Ryo Hazuki Forklift figure was a contest prize held by Sega of America to promote Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. The figure was, at the grief of fans everywhere, limited to 1,000. 50 of the 1,000 were allocated to Sega Europe and Canadians were given the chance at 75. So in all, I actually only had a shot at winning one of 875.

I received the call last night from the promotional company, telling me I've won the figure. The representative on the phone said the item was valued at $40, but I'm certain Dreamcast fanboys would price it much higher (perhaps $45?). The estimated arrival time is next week!

For the sake of not sounding like I'm gloating too much, I claim the Ryo Hazuki Forklift figure in the name of all the excellent Sega junkyards as well as Sega Memories. Once it arrives, expect a bounty of photos and perhaps a cheeky video of Ryo forking about copies of Shenmue.

Congratulations dooood! Remind me, is it shenmue 1 or 2 with the forklift job?

Shenmue 1 had the forklift job, Shenmue 2 had box carrying (which would make for a lame figure). Though, the intro to Shenmue 2 features forklifts driving about at the Chinese harbor.

Sega called, Ryo is shipping out tomorrow! :D

Stephen you broke the '____ git' queue!

Yeah, the forklifts were in Shenmue 1. That video just reminded me how brilliant and hilarious Shenkue was once again. Ryo's dead pan voice and long pauses before replying never stop making me laugh.

Gagaman (and anybody else), you gotta give this article a read. It's about Shenmue's voice recordning process. Yu Suzuki actually insisted that all English actors be recorded in Japan! Also, he wanted the VA's to be attractive (???):

I do a pretty good impression of the full cast behind the canceled British Shenmue. ;)

That bit in Shenmue 2 where you have to carry the boxes in order to make enough money to pay that dude is the bit that stopped me playing it. Talk about BORING. But good effort with the winning of the figure!
