The Ultimate Collectors Guide Book

You asked for it, so here it is. The Dreamcast Junkyard Ultimate Collectors Guide is now available in an updated, physical form. Written by Mike Phelan and with a foreword conjured from my own pen (well, keyboard), this guide is packed to the gills with information on pretty much every single game ever released for our favourite system. You don't need to take my word for it though - check out the video preview below:

In case you wanted even more reasons to buy one of these awesome guidebooks though, check out the features below:
  • Full PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J release lists
  • Rarity guide
  • Full list of available indie titles
  • Full list of upcoming indie titles
  • PAL white label guide
  • Japanese accessibility guide
  • Details of differences between versions of the same game
This guide really is like nothing else currently out there for the Dreamcast and we think it's an indispensable companion for anyone wishing to get full and complete collections of the library; but also for those with a passing interest in the full range of titles available for Sega's final console.

We have set up a dedicated store here at the 'Yard and you'll be able to buy directly from this site rather going to an eBay auction. Click here to place on order. It costs £10 with free postage in the UK, £4.50 postage to Europe and £5.00 to the rest of the world (we've had to put the postage cost up slightly from the original £4.00 worldwide as it costs up to £8 to send to some places!). I try to post them in batches a couple of times a week so please bear with me. If you haven't received anything within a couple of weeks of ordering, drop me an email.

Unfortunately, the Guide is no longer available to buy as Sega has asked us to stop selling it. Here's the email:

Dear Sirs,

We are pleased that you support the SEGA video game console Dreamcast and we note your creation of the Dreamcast Junkyard, Ultimate Collectors Guide Book (http://www.thedreamcastjunkyard.co.uk/2015/10/the-ultimate-collectors-guide-book.html). This is however an unofficial title which is not authorised nor endorsed by SEGA and for that reason, we ask that you kindly cease sale of this book on your website and/or any other online channels as soon as possible. Please can you confirm that you have removed the book by emailing Legal.

As you will understand, in order to protect the brands within our group companies, we are only able to allow the creation of and promotion of authorised products and platforms.

We thank you for your understanding.

Yours faithfully

Awesome, I ordered mine this morning!

Nice one! If you got it from the eBay auction then it'll be posted tomorrow or Friday, orders from the 'DCJY Store' will have to wait until the new order turns up from the printers next week and then be posted out in the days after. Either way, thanks for purchasing :)

If I don't order one myself will ask Mrs clause (the wife) to order me one, Maybe you could of added released DC memorabilia in the book if you had the space/info, looks good.

Looks very interesting, will there be a hardware guide?

Tom Charnock said...

Thanks for ordering Adam! Hey DCgaga, a hardware section has been discussed but it's a big job so won't be something we can add for quite a while.

I'm also interested in a copy of the book, completely missed out. I have the printed PDF from about a year ago, but was hoping to get this nice updated new book :)

Tom Charnock said...

Sorry guys. I've withdrawn it from sale temporarily while PayPal decides that I'm not an international money-laundering criminal. Soon as they sort their shit out it'll be back on sale.

Hey Tom! Just bought it :D I watched the latest Sega Europe video and the last bit of news they spoke of was the Junkyard and the book, and I double checked here to make sure they weren't advertising something for you which was still out of stock, but awesome dude :D!

Tom Charnock said...

Hey man - yep, it's in stock (for now!). Will get your book posted this week mate :)

It seems hard to believe that Sega would pursue a book like this. Are copyright laws in Europe really so draconian?

This book clearly falls under "fair use" in the US. You don't use Sega's logo on the cover or do anything else that even makes this arguable.

It reminds me of the Beanie Babies Collector's Guide lawsuit:
