Not really a plummet but rather a slight drop.

Still this is probably a blow to anyone who dropped over $60 to get a mint copy of the game.
Will the re-release cause more people to get rid of their Dreamcast versions of the game? Will the resale price of the game bottom out?
Is this a good time to get a copy?
Should you wait it out and see if this price drop continues?
What does this mean for the rest of the used Dreamcast game stock prices?
Are we nearing a Dreamcast game price recession?
Only time will tell. So until then you should always the latest reports here at the Dreamcast Junkyard, your source for all news that deals with a certain ten year old video game console.

I totally called this in the last MvC posting!
To ebay!
Ha, sold mine for twenty pound a couple of weeks ago. Just in time.
I see a lot of copies on ebay for $20-30. Granted there are a few days left on the bids, but still I don't see them going any higher than $30.
correction: I don't see them going any higher than $40.
Oddly enough the PS2/X-Box versions seem to fetch more money despite being inferior ports (apparently, I haven't played them myself). The DC one hasn't been all too expensive for a long time, though, so long as you pick up the US version, the PAL one is a bit pricier.
Wow, now we have people complaining about the PS3 demo of the game because it only lets you play it with local 2 player (not even vs the CPU). As stupid as a thing to do with a demo as that is, do so few people own 2 controllers and play with friends sitting next to them anymore? That's kind of sad to me.
Multiplayer gaming obviously isn't dying, but there definitely seems to be a move away from same-room or local multiplayer these days, unless you count the wii of course, but hey who does. Its sad but what can you do. 'Cept play the Dreamcast and put your fingers in your ears of course.
Gagaman/Golden Cat - I agree. I can't even get my housemates to play Who Wants To Be A Millionaire with me! I think since the rise of Xbox Live, actually sitting playing multiplayer games with somebody in the same room is just a memory. Bring back Goldeneye 4 player marathons is what I say!
Tomleece-
I had golden eye at my retro video game day and people were playing it.
Gagaman, take into account that a 2nd controller for a 360 or ps3 is fucking expensive compared to what a Dreamcast or even PS2 one used to cost back in the day.
For the price of one I could buy a game.
How much were Dreamcast controllers at launch?
I think I have 5 now :P
4 bought between '99 and '01.
I believe Dreamcast controllers were £30 when on the market, maybe £25. Comntrollers now are up to £40-50, so it's understandable. On my PS3 I only have 2 controllers because i got a Sixaxis double pack for £30 just because they were all sold out everywhere (would of had three but I sold the second hand one that came with my PS3 after I got this double pack).
Even so I would of thought having at least two controllers was essential for any console. When people buy a Wii console they tend to grab a 2nd remote and maybe a 2nd nunchuck too, and those come to around £45 for the two, but then online gaming is less used on the Wii. If there was no online gaming I think people would be willing to pay for the extra controllers anyway.
I'm keeping hold of my copies of MVC2 for Dreamcast and PS2. My DC copy is PAL and I love it! My PS2 copy I got for £3 a couple of years ago from Asda of all places, cheap because they'd lost the box. But I've got the disc and the manual.
About a week before the announcement of the PSN/XBLA versions, my kids were bashing it on the PS2,. It will be downnloaded and played to death! MWUAHA!
...and the award for Most Alliterative Dreamcast Junkyard Title post goes to...
(nice job Caleb)
