Credit Crunch?

Having read the quite spectacular Dreamcast tribute in the most recent edition of the wonderful Games TM magazine, I've got a little nostalgic for my little white box. That doesn't mean I've been playing on it, lord no! The ubiquitous 360 has killed off my regular excursions onto the Dreamcast in quite an alarming way.

Maybe the arrival of Dux will turn me back (Wind and Water Puzzles has not prised me away from GTA IV or Fallout 3 recently and maybe it's silly to put those games on the same page?)

However, I dabbled on the old eBay to check out the prices of Lack Of Love. You know 'LOL'???

It was the progenitor of Spore, an emotional 'evolution simulator' sound-tracked by that dude from the Yellow Magic Orchestra. Apparently a forgotten Dreamcast 'classic', it could have been yet another Dreamcast revelation that I probably would never have played.

But when I checked out the price it was asking between £60-£100+. Well you know what I thought? Fuck that!!! I want a new Shenmue, Crazy Taxi or Headhunter. Scratch that, I want some clever mod /emu type to deliver me Blue stinger 2!!!

Rant over, I promise. The point I was about to make was that I stuck around on the Dreamcast section of eBay and stumbled across what I considered to be a 'must have' purchase. In a nutshell I discovered two brand new, boxed up VMUs for £3 + postage.

When factored in a £1 donation to the NSPCC, plus my complimentary festive Paypal voucher of four delicious pounds off any purchase on eBay, the whole package cost me £2 (inc postage).

That's a sum total of £1 each for two boxed up, coloured, see-through US VMUs. Only two years ago, I payed £15 for ONE. Point being, now that we are in full on credit crunch recession, (plus the 'current gen' has truly arrived), there are many, many sweet Dreamcast deals to be had...)

The batteries alone (to power a VMU) cost more than I paid online. Get surfing people and let me know what lovely bargains you have secured!

Well, I've just got a Dreamcast !^^ About 40€ off ebay, for the US console, 2 pads, 1 vmu and about 6 games (including Omikron, a Sega Genesis compilation, Crazy Taxi and 3 crappy games).

For the record, it's my 5th Dreamcast:
- first one bought on day one in France, where I'm from; died in a surge, along with my tv.
- second one was a used one that died shortly after for an unknown reason that might involve one of my brothers.
- third one was bought brand new and is still running at my parents'.
- I bought the fourth one when I arrived in Japan last year, sold it half a year later, a few days before I left.
- and here comes the fifth ! \o/

And now, I realize that i'm really stupid and/or desperate... (-_-')

They're selling VMUs here in Sweden on some auction sites. $0.1 for a box with 48(!) original green VMUs.

ah L.O.L i found it here in taiwan for about US$20 brand new and i feel ashamed to say i haven't touched it or The Lost Golem yet as i clocked No More Heroes last weekend and got Smash Brothers Brawl today
it's pathetic but at least i have it so i'll be able to give it a go soon

i have a japanese DC as everything in taiwan is of course from there and the biggest find i've made so far are the brand new copies of ikaruga, zero gunner 2 and under defeat. special note goes to the japanese 'US Shenmue' i found. ace little weirdness. oh and the japanese Blue Stinger is completely voiced in english which of course helps

it's for the little things that i love taiwan and more than anything that play-asia delivers free to my doorstep in one glorious day... soon it will be Okami for wii all the way....*sigh* L.O.L. is experiencing a true lack of love

Very nice deal!

I have never seen VMUs that cheap!

I recently got a Samba de Amigo Controller for $69!

I need to scout around ebay for some more deals.

My most recent deal on ebay doesn't sound all too cheap until you add it all up: I got a modded Japanese dreamcast (so it can play everything without the need of boot discs) with a bunch of games for £120. Three of the games are Radilgy, Gigawing 2 and Trizeal, all worth about £60 each. Now i just have to wait for it to arrive (along with my Segagaga box set i got for £65).
