DCJY/RadioSEGA

See what I did with the title of this post? It's like Frost/Nixon but less politically charged. Should probably be the other way round and written as RadioSEGA/DCJY...but meh. Anyway, let's get on with it. If you're a Sega fan, you'll no doubt be familiar with RadioSEGA...and if you're not, then allow me to enlighten you. RadioSEGA is an online radio station that broadcasts a whole range of shows and Sega-related music 24 hours a day. It has its own hosts, talk shows and discussion programmes as well as a thriving online community and forum. Recently, I was lucky enough to be invited onto one of RadioSEGA's most popular talk shows - The Sega Lounge - to talk about the Dreamcast, my history with the system and also The Dreamcast Junkyard itself. The show was a lot of fun and main host KC was a consummate broadcast professional (you can pay me later for that description, KC). There was also a Dreamcast music quiz that I wasn't too hot at - I could have done with a 'phone a friend' call on some of the tracks to be honest!
Other topics we touched on included the whole saga with the DCJY Guide and our recent In Search Of The Barber series (special thanks to both Kotaku and Nintendo Life for covering that, too!). Overall it was a great experience and I'm honoured that I was asked to appear on The Sega Lounge. The show was actually broadcast a couple of weeks ago (The Sega Lounge usually goes out on a Thursday night and has a different guest each episode) but now it is available as a podcast, so while you're waiting for us to get around to recording a new episode of DreamPod (don't worry - we're not cancelling it or anything...just real life events prevent us from recording now and then!) why not give this one a listen? Link below, folks!

Back In My Play Celebrates 'Summer of Dreamcast'

Back In My Play is a US-based retro-gaming podcast presented by Kevin Larrabee, and covers all manner of topics. Previous episodes have featured interviews with industry giants like former Sega of America chief Tom Kalinske and veteran developer Mike Mika; while other episodes have covered such varied subjects as the Mega Man series, The Legend of Zelda and Japanese game music. Kevin's co-hosts also come from a wide variety of backgrounds and include writers Josh Hillyer and Greg Sewart; the latter of whom is a former Electronic Gaming Monthly journalist.

Recently, Back In My Play started a new series looking at all aspects of Dreamcast collecting and history titled the 'Summer of Dreamcast,' and episodes have all focussed on a different topic of Dreamcast fandom. From the hosts' first encounters with the system, to the various launches around the world and even an interview with Yu Suzuki. I was also invited to appear on an episode in the Summer of Dreamcast series and I had a great time shooting the breeze with Kevin about the UK advertising campaigns, my memories of the launch and also some PAL exclusives and indie/homebrew gems you may have missed - this is episode 401 detailed below! You can find all of the episodes of Back In My Play's Summer of Dreamcast by following the links below:

DreamPod - Episode 28: Bonus Features - 'Ghost Host' Textual Commentary

Bear with me while I draw a long bow...

You know how DVDs and Blu-rays often come with audio commentary that you can listen to while you're watching the film? You can get further insight into what's happening on screen or interesting behind the scenes anecdotes. Well, what if I could do an audio commentary for a podcast? That would be silly wouldn't it? You can't listen to both at once, unless you spliced more then one audio source together into an extended podcast (Tom from the Future says Hi!), but that's not really the same, is it? So how about a textual commentary? Wouldn't that be cool? It's like we've dropped two levels from a second order derivative back to the original equation (Video > Audio > Screenplay, or TV > Radio Play > Book). See? It totally makes sense.
Ooooh, a maths analogy, this must be a classy blog

Released in 2002 for various systems, Noiz2sa is a freeware shooter that was converted to Dreamcast by Chui of Retro Sumus.
